Cable Duct Polypropylene Mandrels
A duct mandrel and duct brush are used together to clean, clear and check underground electrical, telecommunications and utility cable ducts before installing fibre optic or copper cables.
A polyproline mandrel is used to prove the duct, and is either pulled or pushed through the duct first. This checks the internal diameter and structural integrity of the cable duct pipe, checking for blockages, crushing or kinks.
Mandrels can also be supplied as steel mandrels.
After the polypropylene (or steel) mandrel has confirmed the path is clear, it is common practice to use a cylindrical duct brush to clear and sweep away any remaining dust, silt, sand or lose construction debris.
Set up is normally by towing, by attaching a draw rope, winch cable for cable duct rod to the pulling eyes on either end.
Suitability of the Duct Mandrel to your Cable Duct
For suitability of the cable duct mandrel to your duct pipe, as a guide we advise the the duct brush diameter should be 10% smaller then the inner dimension of your pipe (cable duct).
